    The 'telecoms' speed in the race for the business of mobile payments

    They believe that Google and Apple, which have included in their mobile NFC technology allows, will be key to its momentum. But telcos, also familiar with its important role, have launched their own careers to take positions in this business.

    Orange on Friday announced that it has created a joint venture with the consultancy Atos Origin, Bouygues Telecom and SFR to launch an online payment solution via mobile. The initiative is also backed by French major online stores such as Aquarelle, Brandalley, Darty and Rue duCommerce.

    Buyster, the new payment system arising from the association of the three French mobile operators and Atos (expert in electronic trading), will be available in France in mid-2011. "Over the next five years, we hope to get a share of the mobile commerce market representing 10% of the volume of e-commerce business, with anestimated amount of 6,000 million euros, " said Eric Gontier, president of Buyster.

    Telefonica also announced a few days ago an alliance with Mastercard to create a joint venture company owned 50%, whose activity is the development of financial solutions through mobile phones in Latin America. Both partners seek to make the cell is used as a payment instrument, given its ability to reach places where the ATMor branch is not enough.
